2018 Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program in Taiwan
Our government’s OCAC is dedicating to holding every kind of activities for overseas Chinese young students to come to Taiwan for observing and emulating on researches and studies.Every year around 3000 overseas Chinese young students come to Taiwan to learn or research on Chinese cultures and languages.There are total 600 Chinese youths who come fromAmerica,Canada, England and South Africa in “2018Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program in Taiwan” which OCAC hosted.This activity starts on June30and ended onJuly28this year. Schools that participate in this activityare located at remote areas all over Taiwan, and it is estimated that there will be nearly 4000 people participated benefited from it. For the purpose of these overseas Chinese youths to equip with full English teaching competence,the OCAC specially arranged a one-week teaching training at Chientan Overseas Youth Activity Center.In an attempt to have perfect preparations of English teaching at elementary schools and junior high schools in remote areas, Ministry of Education specially invited lecturers for teaching courses such as campcourses planning, teaching courses practical designing, camping operation and management…etc.
When qualified, these overseas Chinese young students will go to each schools, using trained skills, interesting courses to encourage students of remote areas learning English better.
This program not only benefits our children, expanding their awareness of the world through English, but also benefits our guests by introducing them to the country of their ancestors.
To honor theseefforts by overseas Chinese young students, and on behalf of those benefited schools, the OCAC will host an ending ceremony on July6 inChientan Overseas Youth Activity Center to award these volunteers, and hoping our friendship will spread worldwide year by year.
