Taipei, June 16 (CNA) The British Office Taipei will give chocolate cupcakes to 94 Taiwanese nominated as "COVID-19 heroes" by netizens, as part of its celebration of Queen Elizabeth's 94th birthday.

"We are sharing birthday cupcakes, based on a recipe from the Royal Household, with those who have contributed to Taiwan's effective handling #COVID19," the British Office Taipei wrote Tuesday on its Facebook page.

The nominations for the "COVID-19 heroes" in Taiwan can be made on the British Office's Facebook page by members of the public, it said.

"We want YOU to nominate people in Taiwan who have helped you during the #Covid period by telling us who your Covid heroes are and why by 30 June," the office posted. "As Her Majesty The Queen is celebrating her 94th birthday, we'll then randomly select a total of 94 nominations and deliver them with a cupcakes package."

Meanwhile, British representative to Taiwan Catherine Nettleton delivered birthday cupcakes to Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu and other MOFA officials on Tuesday and will also give some to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on Wednesday, to express appreciation for Taiwan's assistance in U.K.'s fight against the coronavirus, the British office said.

It also shared the Royal Chefs' recipe for the chocolate birthday cake.

Queen Elizabeth was born on April 21, 1926 but in accordance with royal tradition, the official celebration of her birthday is usually held on the second Saturday of June.
