The Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors (FASCA) Princeton Chapter held its 15th annual training August 9 in East Brunswick, New Jersey, bringing together 53 local youth from various Chinese language schools. Operating under a locally organized model, the two-day program demonstrated strong community cohesion as local advisors and volunteer teams led the preparation. Attending the ceremony, New York Culture Center Director Yi-Ju Wang presented certificates of appreciation to the advisory team, praising their dedication to passing down Taiwanese heritage and highlighting how these young ambassadors are poised to share Taiwanese culture with mainstream American society.
Built around FASCA's core values—Leadership, Culture, Service, and Heritage—the curriculum featured interactive lectures on Taiwan's democratic values, ice-breakers for team building, Hakka floral canvas bag design, and cultural dance instruction. Participants were divided into four teams named after iconic Taiwanese symbols: Taipei 101, Formosan Black Bear, Tree Frog, and Blue Magpie. During the achievement showcase, trainees demonstrated remarkable teamwork by combining their team logos into a unified map of Taiwan. The Tree Frog team took home the Best Team award, while Daniel Hare was named Best New Member and Jaslene Jen received the Best Student award, completing a successful training supported by Senior FASCA mentors throughout.
Demonstrating innovation and teamwork, FASCA Princeton Chapter members pieced together their four team logo designs into a complete map of Taiwan, perfectly showcasing collaborative leadership.
