Taiwanese tennis players collected three more golds at the Summer Universiade in Chengdu Sunday, including in the mixed doubles as well as the men's and women's team events.

Mixed doubles pair Hsu Yu-hsiou (許育修) and Wu Fang-hsien (吳芳嫻) defeated Chinese duo Jin Yuquan (金雨全) and Tang Qianhui (湯千慧) 7-6, 2-6, 10-6, a result that saw Wu burst into tears.

The match was scheduled at 1 p.m., but was delayed by a downpour and did not start until 8 p.m.

In the women's singles, Yang Ya-yi (楊亞依) took home silver while Liang En-shuo (梁恩碩) won bronze.

Performances in the Universiade's individual and doubles tennis events also saw Taiwan win both the women's and men's team titles, taking the country's gold medal tally up to nine.

Also on Sunday, Wen Hua-yu (文華佑) won silver in the men's long jump, as Lin Chia-hsing (林佳興) secured bronze in the same event.

Although the two tied at 7.83 meters in their last attempt, Wen was placed before Lin for his better second-best record.

Meanwhile, in badminton, there were bronze medals for Hsu Wen-chi (許玟琪) in the women's singles, and mixed doubles pairing Po Li-wei (柏禮維) and Lee Fang-chih (李芳至).

As of Sunday, Taiwan has won nine golds, 16 silvers and 17 bronzes, tying its nine gold medal performance in the last edition of the Universiade in Napoli for its second-best record.

With Monday's badminton mixed doubles final featuring an all-Taiwanese matchup, the country is guaranteed at least another gold and silver.

Taiwan's best record in one single Universiade was the 2017 edition in Taipei, where it had 26 golds.
