Since the overseas compatriot education policy in Taiwan was implemented 70 years ago, over 160,000 overseas compatriot alumni have graduated from different levels of schools and universities in Taiwan, and the country has cultivated numerous talents in all sectors for overseas compatriot communities and the whole world.
Today there are 127 overseas compatriot alumni associations worldwide to strengthen the political, economic, and cultural relations between the ROC (Taiwan) and its allies. To maintain the relationship between Taiwan and these associations, the Department of Overseas Compatriot Students Affairs has set up the Student Affairs Liaison Section, which handles all student-related affairs and provides not only assistance, guidance, and emergency care but also awards, grants, and subsidies to overseas compatriot student societies, alumni associations, and outstanding Taiwanese alumni all over the world.
