If you obtained R.O.C. (Taiwan) nationality through naturalization and later acquired permanent residence in your country of overseas residence, and you had previously applied for and been issued an Overseas Compatriot Identity Certificate for Military Service before the implementation of the Overseas Compatriot Identity Certification Act (December 20, 2002), the four-year period of accumulated residence abroad shall be calculated from your date of birth.
However, if your first application was made after the Act took effect, the four-year period shall be counted only for residence abroad after naturalization as an R.O.C. (Taiwan) national.
