The inaugural "Taiwan Puzzle Challenge"—part of the grassroots "Piecing Taiwan into the World" initiative launched by Michigan community member Hsiao-Wen Lo to introduce Taiwan's heritage to global families and schools—has made a vibrant impact in Vancouver across two major events. Beginning on September 2 at the FASCA Vancouver training camp, youth members assembled The Island of Life, a 500-piece puzzle depicting Taiwan's landmarks and nature, while building teamwork and cultural awareness under the guidance of UBC Professor Koko Yamahito. Building on this momentum, the main Vancouver competition co-hosted by NATWA Vancouver and Team Taiwan Club took place on September 26 at the Dong Ning Academy, drawing 27 teams and over 150 participants ranging from 5 to 85 years old, including multi-generational families and diverse ethnic background communities. With the winning team completing the puzzle in a record-setting 44 minutes, TECO Vancouver Division Director Shu-Chen Kuo praised the continent-wide movement—now spanning over 20 North American organizations—for creatively connecting youth to their roots and sharing Taiwan with the world piece by piece.
