To keep overseas youth activities in step with the time, promote the spirit of international volunteering and encourage expatriate youth volunteers to take part in English teaching activities in Taiwan, since 2004 the "ABC Schweitzer English Camp "has been held in cooperation with King Car Education Foundation, inviting interested expatriate youth to serve in Taiwan.
In light of the warm reception and significance of such service type activities, in 2006 the Overseas Youth English Teaching Volunteer Service Program was held for the first time by the OCAC in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The OCAC is responsible for recruiting overseas volunteers while the Ministry of Education chooses middle (elementary) schools in Taiwan to hold camps. The Program last for four weeks. As well as injecting the boundless innovation and vitality of expatriate youth into Taiwanese society, it also raise the English learning confidence and willingness of children in remote schools that lack resources, and improves English-learning effectiveness.
