Taipei, May 3 (CNA) Five riverside parks in Taipei are to be opened to anyone who wants to spray paint, the city government announced Wednesday.

The locations are Yingfeng, Meiti, the right side of Bailing, Fuhe and Jingmei riverside parks.

Yu Pai-sung, a section chief of the city government's Public Works Department, said the spaces open for people who wish to spray paint total 3,130 square meters, and that everyone is welcome.

However, he also urged people to refrain from painting obscene images or political language, adding that these will be removed.

Those who spray paint outside the designated areas will be fined between NT$1,200 (US$40) and NT$6,000 for violation of the Waste Disposal Act.
