FASCA Princeton annual gathering and election
Congratulations to the new 2026-2027 board of directors.
The event gave everyone a chance to reconnect, social gathering, friendship, celebrate, and strengthen ties within the FASCA Princeton community.
The annual election gathering highlights FASCA Princeton’s four core values—Service, Culture, Legacy, and Leadership—as members work, celebrate, and grow together.
BASKING RIDGE, NJ — On October 17, 2026, FASCA Princeton kicked off its new season with its annual election and community gathering, bringing together more than 60 FASCA members, counselors, families, and friends for an afternoon centered on service, culture, legacy, and leadership. For these second-generation Taiwanese Americans, the event was more than an election—it was an opportunity to strengthen friendships, celebrate their Taiwanese heritage, and prepare a new generation of youth leaders to serve their community.
The afternoon began with members working together to transform the gathering space. FASCA volunteers moved chairs, arranged tables, prepared decorations, and helped organize the venue while karaoke played in the background. Their willingness to pitch in demonstrated the spirit of service that has long been a foundation of FASCA Princeton.
After the setup, members enjoyed a Taiwanese-inspired lunch featuring sausages, fried rice, noodles, fried chicken, and other favorite dishes. Landen Shen shared, “The fried rice in particular was my favorite.” The meal provided an opportunity for members and families to relax, reconnect, and celebrate their shared cultural roots.
The afternoon continued with games and icebreakers, including charades and the popular party game “Mafia.” Laughter and friendly competition filled the gathering as members from different age groups interacted and built stronger connections. Benjamin Tu enjoyed “seeing the competitive spirit amongst the members” and noted that “everyone felt connected with each other.”
The highlight of the day was the election of the 2026–2027 FASCA Princeton Executive Board. Candidates presented their ideas and visions for the coming year before members cast their votes. After an exciting election, returning member Jaslene Jen was elected president. The four vice presidents elected were Benjamin Tu, Jayden Hsu, Catalina Su-Ortiz, and Landen Shen. The newly elected officers thanked their fellow members for their support and expressed their enthusiasm for serving the chapter.
The new E-Board hopes to create more opportunities for members to connect, experience Taiwanese culture, and develop leadership skills. Vice President Jayden Hsu suggested bringing back archery and exploring activities such as ice skating and escape rooms. President Jaslene Jen also proposed more fundraisers and fun events to increase participation and support future chapter initiatives. The Board of Directors hopes to expand its collaboration with other FASCA chapters, including the FASCA New York Chapter and the FASCA Albany Chapter.
For these young Taiwanese Americans, leadership means more than holding an elected position. It means listening to members, welcoming new ideas, taking responsibility, and working together to turn shared goals into reality. By encouraging every member to participate and take initiative, FASCA Princeton hopes to build a stronger community while passing its Taiwanese heritage and spirit of service to the next generation.
After the election, members continued celebrating with ice cream, cake, cream puffs, and candy before braving the cold for a spirited game of freeze tag on the tennis court. Even after the games, members demonstrated their commitment to service by working together to clean the area, move supplies, and pack up leftovers.
Nelson Tai, President of the Association of New Jersey Chinese Schools (ANJCS), also recognized the members and families for their support. He encouraged the students to continue building connections and highlighted FASCA Princeton’s growing impact in the community.
Attending counselors included Tina Liu, Bright Lin, Chris Lee, Maggie Lin, and Chiao-Wei Lee. As FASCA Princeton begins another year, its new E-Board is ready to lead with creativity and purpose while continuing the chapter’s mission to promote Taiwan, celebrate Taiwanese culture, serve the community, preserve its legacy, and empower the next generation of leaders.
