Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors (FASCA) Vancouver Chapter successfully concluded its 2026 Orientation program on September 1-2, bringing together enthusiastic young participants for leadership development, cultural exploration, and community engagement. Centered around the themes of trust, communication, and teamwork, the orientation provided members with opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, form new friendships and connections with others, and experience the spirit of FASCA.
This year’s Orientation marked a new record for FASCA Vancouver Chapter, with the highest number of participants in the organization’s history. A total of 61 FASCA participants, together with Senior FASCA members, came together to take part in the two-day experience.
As part of the closing ceremony, participants watched a recap video edited by Senior FASCA Johnathan Wu, featuring images from the orientation activities and highlighting what they had experienced throughout the previous two days. The video provided an opportunity for students to look back on their experiences and celebrate the memories they had created together.
The students also took on the challenge of learning the FASCA Dance to perform in front of their parents. Led by Senior FASCA Elena Lin, the group prepared the performance in less than 48 hours. Elena Lin noted that, despite the short preparation time, the students embraced the challenge and delivered an enthusiastic and well-executed performance, demonstrating their willingness to try something new and work together under pressure.
Another highlight of the closing ceremony was the poster demonstration and learning showcase. Each group presented a poster featuring an itinerary for a 10-day trip around Taiwan, introducing places throughout Taiwan that they thought would be worthwhile to visit. Through their presentations, participants had the opportunity to explore Taiwan while sharing what they had learned with their parents. Each group presented its work as part of the learning showcase, demonstrating both their creativity and teamwork.
The orientation concluded with Jump into FASCA, a signature FASCA experience that brought the day to a close. Through a day filled with challenges, reflection, creativity, and performance, the 2026 FASCA Vancouver Chapter Orientation introduced new members to the values at the heart of the organization.
The closing ceremony also marked an important moment for the participants as they received their certifications from Kuo Shu-Chen, Director of the Overseas Community Affairs Section, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver. Kuo Shu-Chen expressed hope that the orientation would lay a strong foundation for their continued learning, growth, and journey with FASCA Vancouver Chapter.
