On the morning of May 23, FASCA Princeton (New Jersey Region) members arrived at the Sheraton Hotel in Edison promptly at 9am, united by a shared sense of purpose — to pour their energy and dedication into making the two-day ACS Annual Conference an unforgettable success. In the morning session, FASCA Princeton members started with organizing the main entrance area, displaying the exhibition and installing the equipment. Members also set up a FASCA booth to promote the upcoming training camp in August. The afternoon session featured a variety of parent-child talent and hands-on activity booths. Families had the chance to learn and create together through different cultural and craft activities, such as crochet, origami, Chinese knotting, paper cutting, and other handmade projects.
During this part of the program, FASCA Princeton members assisted at several activity booths. They helped explain steps, guide participants, prepare materials, and support the booth leaders when many families arrived at the same time. Some members helped younger children understand the instructions, while others helped keep materials organized so the activities could continue smoothly.
In addition to helping with the hands-on booths, the members also assisted near the entrances and exits of the competition and lecture events. They helped guide participants, manage the flow of people, and make sure the areas did not become too crowded. Their work helped keep the afternoon program organized and allowed participants to move safely and smoothly between different activities.
Later in the evening, the event program continued with the ACS Singing Contest from 6:30 p.m. to around 11:00 p.m. This year’s contest was large in scale, with 34 solo contestants and 12 group performances. Because of the number of performers, backstage support and technical coordination were especially important. One member was responsible for changing background music and adjusting the volume balance between the music and the vocals. This required focus and careful timing, since each contestant needed the correct music and sound level for their performance. Other members helped hand microphones to contestants at the right time and guiding each contestant walk up and down from the stage making sure each performance could begin smoothly and without delay.
Although these jobs happened mostly behind the scenes, they were important to the success of the event. At the closing ceremony, ACS President Bright Lin emphasized that the long-term development of overseas Chinese language education relies on the silent dedication of teachers, administrators, and volunteers; "Without teachers, we simply cannot take a single step forward." She stated that many staff members have been responsible for venue, logistics, and event support for many years, becoming an important pillar for the inheritance of community culture. At the end of the event, President Lin came to FASCA Princeton booth to sincere thank all the FASCA Princeton members’ unwavering support of the two-day ACS Annual Conference.
From helping families at craft booths in the afternoon to supporting contestants during the singing contest at night, FASCA Princeton members showed responsibility, patience, and teamwork. Through this experience, they not only served the Chinese school community, but also learned how much planning and cooperation are needed to support a large community event. Their contributions helped the whole event run more smoothly and gave members valuable experience in both cultural service and event management.
