1、The application requirements for both are the same.

2、The validity periods differ:
（1）The Overseas Compatriot Identity Certificate for Military Service is valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance.
（2）The validity period of the Overseas Compatriot Identity Endorsement is the same as that of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) passport (the proof of residence in the overseas residence must also remain valid).

3、The forms of certification differ:
（1）The Overseas Compatriot Identity Certificate for Military Service is an A4-sized certificate.
（2）The Overseas Compatriot Identity Endorsement appears as a stamp / endorsement inside a valid R.O.C. (Taiwan) passport.
