1、According to the provisions of the Act of Military Service System, all males from January 1 of the year they turn 19 to December 31 of the year they turn 36 are subject to conscription by law and are referred to as "males of conscription age."
2、According to Article 9 of the Regulations Governing Conscription of Naturalized Citizens and Returning R.O.C. (Taiwan) Nationals Residing Overseas, the status of a returning overseas compatriot shall be verified based on the Overseas Compatriot Identity Certificate for Military Service issued by the competent overseas compatriot affairs authority.
A male of conscription age who meets the requirements set forth in the Overseas Compatriot Identity Certification Act and the Regulations Governing Application for Overseas Compatriot Identity Endorsement by Males Who Have Not Completed Compulsory Military Service of Conscription Age or Near Conscription Age, and who has obtained the said Certificate from the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and completed the change of conscription status registration at the local household registration office, shall be recognized as an Overseas Compatriot Conscription Male.
