Provision of news reports
To promote Taiwan to the world, the OCAC has provided news reports to be legally used by overseas compatriot media since July, 1999. The content includes domestic politics, economy, culture, education, people's livelihood, and other information.
The Overseas Compatriot Media Delegation
The OCAC organizes annual tours for overseas compatriot media delegations to strengthen communication and exchange with overseas compatriot media. The visits provide an opportunity for media professionals to experience Taiwan's latest developments in politics, economy, and culture and to promote positive coverage of Taiwan.
In 2024, the OCAC continued to organize the Overseas Compatriot Media Delegation. Representatives from ten countries in North America, South America, Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Europe were invited to Taiwan for an eight-day, seven-night visit. In addition to participating in the National Day celebration, they also visited relevant government departments and toured domestic media organizations and universities.
The Mandarin Journalism Award for Overseas Media
The Mandarin Journalism Award for Overseas Media was created with the aim of promoting journalistic excellence in Mandarin language news reporting as well as shining a light on inspiring stories on overseas compatriots with a focus on their Taiwanese root.
"The Voice of the Sinophone World", which is the theme of the 5th MJAOM, has inspired works reflecting the continuing influence of Mandarin language news outlets around the world. 240 entries from 20 countries had been submitted to the 5th MJAOM, 40 of which were shortlisted.
Aside from the award ceremony, 15 attending nominees from Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the United States of America, Canada, South Africa, and Germany also partook in networking with major news agencies and visiting critical industries during their stay in Taiwan.
