The 2025 Seminar of Overseas Community Affairs in Europe, Africa, and Central and South America has been held from June 30th to July 5th, with the opening ceremony taking place on July 1. OCAC Minister Chia-ching Hsu warmly welcomed 35 overseas community representatives from 25 countries back to Taiwan, aiming to deepen their awareness of Taiwan's current key developments.
"In the past two or three years, I've flown 800,000 kilometers," Hsu said, sharing her own long-distance travel experiences to highlight the challenges of global journeys. She emphasized how remarkable it was for everyone to gather together from around the world. Expressing gratitude to the overseas representatives for taking time out of their busy schedules to return to Taiwan, she looked forward to policy briefings by OCAC departments and exchanges among participants from different countries. She encouraged everyone to make full use of this platform to share both successes and challenges, to advance together, and to return to their communities as "seed instructors" who will lead their communities forward with determination.
Tun-jen Hu from Brazil, who served as the participant leader of the seminar, noted that in many cities across Brazil, understanding of Taiwan remains limited, with Taiwan often confused with Thailand. He expressed his hope that through this program and the interaction with overseas compatriots , participants would gain a deeper appreciation of Taiwan's values and spirit of friendliness, and grow into exemplary figures who help more international friends learn about Taiwan.
