The delegation of the Taiwan Association of America (TAAUSA), led by President Ms. Gui-Ling Chen and consisting of 34 members, visited Taiwan from November 11th to 16th, 2024. On November 11th, Vice Minister Mr. Roy Yuan-Rong Leu of the Overseas Community Affairs Council warmly welcomed them on their second visit.
Established in 1970, TAAUSA plays a crucial role in Taiwan's democratic development and grassroots diplomacy, providing strong support for overseas compatriots. Vice Minister Leu also expressed gratitude for TAAUSA's efforts in connecting Taiwanese and American communities, highlighting its active role in cultural heritage initiatives, promoting Taiwanese culture within mainstream American society through educational outreach and large-scale events, and showcasing Taiwan's soft power.
President Gui-Ling Chen of TAAUSA also thanked the Overseas Community Affairs Council for its support and presented a souvenir, the "Taiwan Diffusing Stone", symbolizing the spreading of Taiwan's values and fragrance wherever they go, carrying special significance.
This delegation also visited the Presidential Office, the Executive Yuan, the Control Yuan, the Legislative Yuan, and the New Taipei City Council. They then traveled south to Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung City, where they visited local governments and various municipal projects to enhance bilateral communication. Additionally, they aimed to bring back the insights and experiences they gathered to their places of residence abroad.
