The Ministry of the Interior (MOI) announced the successful completion of the “2026 Winter CSI Forensic Science Experience Camp,” jointly organized by Central Police University (CPU) and the Taiwan Society of Forensic Science (TAFS). The closing ceremony was held on February 5, 2026, at CPU, bringing together distinguished guests from academia, industry, and the education sector, as well as participants’ families, to celebrate the program’s achievements.

The five-day program integrated systematic instruction with hands-on training, covering crime scene investigation, forensic laboratory techniques, and applications of artificial intelligence (AI), including image recognition, data analysis, and evidence comparison. Through simulated case scenarios and practical exercises, participants strengthened their ability to apply scientific methodologies and logical reasoning in evidence-based investigations.

Participants completed team-based forensic reports and presented reconstructed crime scenarios at the conclusion of the camp, with outstanding teams receiving the “Holmes Gold Award.” The program also incorporated simulated shooting exercises and police tactical training, providing a comprehensive introduction to the professionalism and multidisciplinary nature of police work.

Noted that participants demonstrated significant growth, progressing from initial unfamiliarity to active engagement and confident self-expression. The inclusion of activities such as the “Time Capsule Mailbox” further encouraged reflection and long-term personal development.

This camp marked its 15th session. Since its launch in 2015, 15 high school student camps and 5 teacher camps have been held, with 2,210 students and 258 teachers participating, supported by 590 instructors and teaching assistants. The program has become a key platform in Taiwan for advancing forensic science education. The CPU reaffirmed its commitment to promoting experiential, practice-oriented education, aiming to cultivate young talent with strong scientific literacy and a sense of public mission, while supporting the development of a professional workforce essential to national security and societal advancement.
