2026 TiBE concludes successfully, welcoming 580,000 visitors
After six days of community engagement, the 2026 Taipei International Book Exhibition (TiBE) concluded on February 8. The event brought together 509 publishers from 29 countries and 1,467 writers from Taiwan and abroad, hosting 1,301 reading promotion sessions and 1,853 copyright sales meetings. More than 580,000 visitors attended the exhibition, underscoring its growing international reach and cultural impact.
With support from the Ministry of Culture (MOC), 1,076 students from 50 rural schools were able to participate. The closing ceremony was attended by MOC Minister Li Yuan, Taipei Book Fair Foundation Chairperson Rex How (郝明義), Thai Trade Office Director Pornphan Pirompanich (李佩佩), Czech Economic and Cultural Office Representative David Steinke, and other distinguished guests.
Minister Li highlighted cultural diplomacy via book exhibitions, introducing global cultures to Taiwan while showcasing Taiwan's economic, technological, and cultural achievements to the world.
Chairperson How attributed TiBE’s success to MOC initiatives, including the Culture Points program, as well as high-profile visits and book recommendations from leaders such as President Lai Ching-te and Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰), alongside strong support from enthusiastic readers.
Thailand served as this year’s guest of honor, bridging Taiwan-Thailand cultural ties through diverse publications, while organizers announced the Czech Republic as next edition’s guest of honor to foster deeper local engagement with Czechia’s rich literary tradition.
