2018 Program on Infrastructure Industry for Southeast Asian Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs

In alignment with the government’s promotion of the  New Southbound and   engineering industry globalization policies, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) held the 2018 Program on Infrastructure Industry for Southeast Asian Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs September 3-8; overseas compatriot infrastructure industry business people with an interest in  cooperating with domestic infrastructure industry companies, invest in domestic infrastructure or assist Taiwan’s related industries to expand their overseas markets were invited to take part, with the aim of driving domestic and overseas investment and industrial development, and matching Taiwan construction industry companies and overseas business people to facilitate business exchange and cooperation. In the Program, nine overseas compatriot entrepreneurs from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Myanmar etc. involved in the infrastructure industry came to Taiwan to explore related business opportunities.   
Participants visited the National Development Council and Public Construction Commission, Executive Yuan, made on-site visits to three infrastructure project- the freeway ETC electronic toll collection system, Beitou Refuse Incinerator Plant, and Taipei Mass Rapid Transport System Traffic Control Center; they also visited seven outstanding domestic companies where they engaged in exchange with senior managers; they were CECI Engineering Consultants Inc. Taiwan, Sinotech Engineering Consultants Inc., Formosa Heavy Industries Corp., Pan Asia Corporation, CTCI Corp., Radium Life Tech Co., Ltd., and Stanley Glass Co., Ltd. Also, as part of the Program, an infrastructure international tender forum was held on September 7, and an infrastructure industry business discussion meeting was also held at which Program participants engaged in exchange with representatives of 14 domestic infrastructure companies. Program members all said they gained a lot from their visit to Taiwan, had obtained a good understanding of the current technology situation of Taiwan’s engineering industry and been able to interact with domestic infrastructure industry companies, which will be of substantial help in managing their overseas business; they also expressed a willingness to assist Taiwanese companies to set up a presence in their countries of residence to stimulate overseas and domestic infrastructure industry investment momentum.
