With the aims of raising the level of professional competences of Chinese language teachers and so improve teaching quality at overseas compatriot schools, every year the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) sends selected lecturers abroad on teaching tours. This year, 12 Chinese language teachers' conferences were held in Northern Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia (three groups),Vietnam and Cambodia, US and Canada (three groups), Australia and New Zealand, Myanmar, and Thailand (Bangkok). In total, 28 Chinese language lecturers were sent on teaching tours taking in 42 stops and trained around 3,600 teachers. 

On September 20, the OCAC held the results presentation and review meeting for this year's overseas Chinese language teachers' conferences which was chaired by OCAC Chief Secretary Chang Liang-min. The attending lecturers told how they had designed lively, and diverse courses suited to local conditions in line with the differences in the overseas Chinese language teaching environment, described the conference situation and put forward suggestions for the holding of similar activities in future. The OCAC holds overseas teachers' conferences every year, allowing the local teachers to take the vivid, lively and diverse courses formulated by the touring lecturers  and use them flexibly in the classroom; the lively and interesting courses make students more willing to study Chinese language. Through, these teaching tours, Taiwan’s superior Chinese language teaching concepts are also disseminated oversea to raise the level of Chinese language teaching overseas.
