•Objectives:
The 2024 Overseas Compatriot Youth Taiwan Technical and Vocational Education Experience Program (the Program) for Overseas Youth is held in support of the government's New Southbound policy and to enhance enrollment of overseas compatriot students, with the aim of giving overseas youth an understanding of the excellent higher education and vocational education environment of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) and encouraging them to come to Taiwan for further study.

•Eligibility:
Anyone aged 16 to 20 years of age (based on birth date in passport), who holds an i-Compatriot Card and passport issued by his or her country of residence or Overseas Compatriot Identity Endorsement, and currently resides. overseas.

•Activity dates, number of participants and region: the duration of each session shall be 14-days and 13-nights long (with airport pickup and drop off)
(1) Sessions 1: June 2-June 15, 2024, with an estimated number of 120 participants, participants shall be overseas youths, and accompanying teachers approved by the OCAC, from the Philippines.
(2) Session 2: July 13-July 26, 2024, with an estimated number of 41 participants, participants shall be overseas youths and accompanying teachers approved by the OCAC, from Vietnam.
(3) Session 3: December 14-December 27, 2024, with an estimated number of 120 participants, participants shall be overseas youths and accompanying teachers approved by the OCAC, from Indonesia.

•Activity content
(1) Introduction to the R.O.C. (Taiwan): national development, briefing on current overseas compatriot affairs, promotion of courses and recruitment of overseas compatriot students.
(2) Taiwan cultural exploration: introduction to Taiwanese culture, cultural and creative parks, festivals and customs, literature and arts.
(3) Ecological exploration and cultural visits: national parks, historic sites and distinctive scenic spots.
(4) Industrial visit: visits to excellent industrial enterprises, research institutions or enterprises of Industry-Academia
Collaboration Overseas Youth Vocational Training Program.
(5) Vocational courses and visits to university campuses.
(6) Youth forum and exchange

•Enrollment process:
(1) Registration and deadline: from now until 1 month before the program starts, or all places are taken.
(2) Registration method: contact overseas offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (MOFA) or Culture Centers of Taipei Economic and Cultural Offices (TECO Culture Centers) before the registration deadline. See the appendix of OCAC Overseas Offices Contact Information.
(3) Review process: the documents provided by the students will first be reviewed by MOFA's overseas offices or TECO Culture Centers and will then undergo final review by the OCAC. The OCAC will inform the overseas MOFA offices or TECO Culture Centers of the admission results.
(4) Entry visa: participants' passports must be valid for more than 6 months for entry approval, and visa-free days shall vary depending on respective passports. If participants wish to extend their stay beyond the visa-free stay period in Taiwan of 30-90 days, they will not eligible for visa-free or landing visas. Please apply for an appropriate visa with the overseas offices in advance to support your stay in Taiwan. The organizing unit will not assume responsibility if the visa extension is not possible.
(5) The OCAC reserves the right to decide whether to proceed with the event based on factors such as activity situations. Participants shall be duly notified in the event of cancellation, however, the OCAC shall not compensate for any airfare expenses that have already incurred by the participants.

•Registration
(1) Time and place: Please see the points for attention for registration.
(2) At time of registration, the student shall pay the tuition fee and hand over their passport, receive their student ID card, student handbook, and will be assigned a dormitory room.
(3) Expenses:
1.) Paid by the student:
(a) Tuition fee: NT$12,000, to be paid to the undertaking unit on registration. There will be no refund to those who leave the program early.
(b) Individual student airfare, visa fees, luggage transport fees, and spending money.
(c) Expenses associated with arranging medical insurance in the student's home country prior to coming to Taiwan.
(d) Student personal medical treatment expenses that may arise during the program, as well as any compensation for damage caused by the student (the parents will assume joint and several liability).
2.) Paid by OCAC:
NT$18,000 per person, covering trips, visits, food and accommodation, transportation, administration, and other expenses.

•Points for attention:
(1) During the program, students must abide by all rules and regulations and comply with group disciplinary rules. Serious violations can result in expulsion by the OCAC, to which student and parents shall not object.
(2) Students must arrange for medical insurance in their country of residence prior to arrival. Should medical treatment be necessary for a student during the program for a sudden illness or recurrence of existing illness, any related medical fees shall be paid by the participant; neither the student nor the parents may make any claim for compensation to OCAC or the implementing unit.
(3) Applicants who have a special disease or serious condition (such as heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, diabetes, mental illness, epilepsy, infectious disease, or pregnancy) that could seriously affect their participation should not register for this program. Applicants will be solely responsible for any incidents arising from preexisting health conditions; the organizing and implementing units will bear no responsibility.
(4) Applicants with a prior record of drug abuse, criminal activity, bad character or other misconduct will not be allowed to enroll.
(5) To ensure that opportunities to participate are distributed fairly, those who have never been to Taiwan to take part in this activity will be given enrollment priority. In principle, only one member of the same family can take part at one time, other members of the same family will be placed on the reserve list; however, this rule does not apply to twins.
