Admission Guidelines 2024 Language Study Program for Compatriot Youth (Regional Program Thailand class2)

1.Objective
To improve the Mandarin ability of overseas compatriot youth and improve the listening, speaking, reading, writing, and text computer input skills of overseas compatriot students accepted admission to a university in Taiwan or registering for the 2024 Academic Year Industry-Academia Collaboration Overseas Youth Vocational Training Program(OYVTP) Bachelor Degree and 3+4 Vocational Education Program for Overseas Compatriot Students, and to boost their adaptability to studying and living in Taiwan and to deepen their cultural understanding of the country.

2.Program schedule
(1) This Program will have six class hours a day, five days a week for total hours of 120 over four weeks.
(2) The Program class times are as follows:July 3-July 28 (GMT+8)

3.Eligibility
(1) Overseas youth in Thailand
Overseas compatriot youth in Thailand aged 14 to under 20,age calculated to the first day of the program (based on date of birth in passport,) holding a passport issued by his/ her country of residence or Overseas Compatriot Identity Endorsement, currently residing overseas, in good health and of good conduct, with strong desire to learn Mandarin and able to adapt to group living; should hold an i Compatriot Card.
Eligibility for priority acceptance: New students accepted admission to a university in Taiwan or registering for the 2024 Academic Year Industry-Academia Collaboration Overseas Youth Vocational Training Program(OYVTP) Bachelor Degree and 3+4 Vocational Education Program for Overseas Compatriot Students; provide proof of study or registration for priority acceptance.
(2) Non- overseas compatriot students of a Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) and overseas mainstream school (limited to Class 2 and Class 3 of the Global Program):
TCML can recommend students aged 14-20 to take part, with a teacher's recommendation letter to be submitted when registering.
Mandarin teachers at mainstream schools in Europe and the Americas can each recommend two students aged 14 to 20 years of age, with no restriction on ethnic group, with a teacher's recommendation letter to be submitted when registering.

4.Number of Students to be Enrolled:
70 people.

5.Application Procedure
(1) Registration period(Taiwan time):
from January 10th until May 7th or the program is full.
(2) Registration method: Please contact the Overseas Comptriot Affairs Section of the overseas missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ROC or Culture Centers of Taipei Economic and Cultural Offices(Taiwan overseas mission or Culture Centers) in your country of residence to register before the registration deadline. Please refer to Attachment 2 for contact information.
(3) Review procedures: Student registration information will first be reviewed by the Taiwan overseas mission or Culture Centers (if there are no staff stationed by the OCAC in the area, it will be reviewed by OCAC's overseas personnel), and second phase review will be conducted by the OCAC. After review, the OCAC will periodically send letters to the overseas mission or Culture Center to notify them of the admission results.
(4) Please apply for the i Compatriot Card in advance and scan and upload the electronic files of the following documents to the "Submit Documents" field of the registration system:
1. Electronic file of personal photos.
2. A photocopy of the valid passport of the country of residence.
3. Consent to study signed by the applicant and his or her parents.
4. Health certificate checklist signed by a doctor and marked as conforming (those without chest X-ray for tuberculosis and hepatitis B surface antigen tests will not be accepted).
5. Supporting documents for applying for admission to a university in Taiwan or registering for the 2024 Academic Year Industry-Academia Collaboration Overseas Youth Vocational Training Program(OYVTP) Bachelor Degree and 3+4 Vocational Education Program for Overseas Compatriot Students (no need to attach if not available).
6. Teacher recommendation letter (if not available, please do not attach it).
(5) Entry visa: The passport must be valid for more than 6 months before entry can be approved. There are different numbers of visa-free days depending on the passport held. If participants want to extend their stay so that the total number of days in Taiwan exceeds the 30 to 90 days of visa-free stay, they will not be able to apply for visa exemption or visa on arrival. Please apply for a visa with an appropriate stay period in advance from a Taiwan overseas mission and use it to enter Taiwan, otherwise the organizer (undertaking unit) will not be responsible if the stay cannot be extended.
(6) The OCAC reserves the right to decide whether to handle the activity depending on the situation and other factors. If the program is cancelled, the registrants will be notified separately. The OCAC will not compensate registrants for air tickets and other expenses already incurred.
