Developing smart cities is an important policy of many countries. Taiwan's development of smart cities is renowned worldwide, with several cities at the top of international smart city rankings; in 2019, Taoyuan City was selected as Intelligent Community of the Year; Keelung was awarded the ASOCIO Smart City Awards 2019, while Taipei achieved the excellent result of coming 8th in the 2020 Smart City Index and 2nd in Asia, showing again and again that Taiwan's development of smart cities has been affirmed around the world.
Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Minister Tung Chen-yuan stated that the OCAC held the Malaysia Smart City Plan Industry Exchange Meeting on September 14, 2020, and went on to hold the Taiwan-Thailand Smart City Industry Exchange Meeting on November 5; after the events, smart city industry exchange results handbooks were compiled, the contents including important information relating to smart city industry exchange and cooperation between Taiwan, Malaysia and Thailand. The aim was to combine with the network of contacts of overseas compatriot entrepreneurs to lead Taiwan's industry out into the world to set down roots all around, in doing so creating more business opportunities for overseas compatriot entrepreneurs, Taiwan's industry and the global economy.
For this reason, the OCAC collected the information of outstanding domestic enterprises in various fields in the categories of ehealth, smart manufacturing, smart infrastructure, smart energy and environment, smart governance, smart buildings, smart mobility and smart education and compiled the Smart Cities in Taiwan-Businesses Directory. The electronic file can be found in the overseas compatriot enterprise special zone on the OCAC official website (https://Business.Taiwan-World.Net). Overseas compatriot entrepreneurs interested in smart city related industry information are welcome to use it and share it.
