With the aim of providing an opportunity for interested people to observe and exchange with domestic baking industry business operators and obtain new skills and knowledge to help them start a baking business or expand an existing one, the 2019 OCAC Taiwan Baking Workshop was held by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) July 8-14. 33  overseas compatriot and overseas Taiwanese business trainees who are involved in the baking business overseas or who are interested in learning practical baking skills to start a business or expand their business in their place of residence took part; trainees came from 23 regions in 15 countries (Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore, Australia, the US, Canada, Italy, Slovakia, Finland and Nicaragua). The opening ceremony on July 8 was hosted by OCAC Deputy Minister Kao Chien-chih who encouraged the trainees to study diligently during the six days and five nights of the Workshop so they could go home fully laden with new baking knowledge and skills.

The Workshop featured various practical baked product classes and involved visits to high-quality bakery brands, ingredients suppliers and professional equipment suppliers as well as two special topic lectures; the closing ceremony on July 12 was hosted by OCAC Chief Secretary Chang Liang-min who encouraged the trainees to put what they had learned to good use upon returning to their place of residence to develop business opportunities and grow their business.
