On January 29, 2019, five members of the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Latin America, led by TCCLA President Chang Teh-huei, visited the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) to hand-deliver an invitation to “The Third Joint Meeting of the 24th Annual Conference Board of Directors and Supervisors” to be held in Brazil on June 8-10. The delegation was personally received by OCAC Minister Wu Hsin-hsing and Department of Business Affairs Director Wang Shu-hua.

Minister Wu Hsin-hsing voiced his gratitute toward TCCLA President Chang Teh-huei, for leading Taiwanese businessmen in Latin America to support the R.O.C. government, and for assisting in President Tsai Ing-wen’s warm reception during her “A Journey of Joint Celebration” visit to Paraguay in August of 2018. Mr. Chang also dedicated himself to aiding overseas community leaders to organize the First Central and South American Conference of Nationals, which provided a successful model for overseas Taiwanese businessmen in their efforts to endorse the government. In particular, Minister Wu expressed his respect to the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Latin America (TCCLA) for their committment in advocating the rights and benefits of overseas compatriots, for supporting the Taiwanese government, and for uniting the cohesive efforts of overseas compatriots.

TCCLA President Chang Teh-huei humbly replied that it is one’s duty as overseas compatriots to promote Taiwan, their homeland. He also discussed views with Minister Wu regarding overseas compatriot affairs and personnel updates in the Latin American region. Finally, the meeting ended on a high note of exchanging Lunar New Year wishes and blessings.
