Chang Kai Ping, Global Young Entrepreneur Stars Recipient: Leading Hoo Chin Electronics into New Milestones with Creative Thinking

Hoo Chin Electronics Co., Ltd., based in Thailand, specializes in customized wire harnesses, wire processing, and wire assembly. Since its establishment, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality products that cater to the unique needs of clients, including major global manufacturers like Delta Electronics, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Sharp, Beko, Electrolux, Alliance, and more. Chang Kai Ping, the current Managing Director, is a second-generation entrepreneur originally from Taiwan. After completing his bachelor's degree in Taiwan, he pursued further studies in the United Kingdom, earning a master's degree from a business school in 2011. Despite enjoying a comfortable career in Europe, Chang decided to step out of his comfort zone in response to the expectations of his father and the company's founder, Chang Feng Hao. In 2013, Chang boldly chose to relocate to Thailand and play a crucial role in managing the family business.

Chang Kai Ping reflects on his initial days in Thailand when he couldn't speak a word of Thai. At that time, under his father's guidance as the business leader, Chang began his journey in the most basic aspects of the production management department within the factory, gaining hands-on experience. Living alongside Taiwanese executives and Thai supervisors in the factory dormitories, he not only gained insights into factory processes but also immersed himself in Thai culture, improving his Thai language skills. In contrast to entrepreneurs born with a silver spoon, Chang Kai Ping embodies a spirit of hard work, evolving alongside the company through hands-on experiences.

Since taking on the role of General Manager in 2017, Chang Kai Ping, with his youthful and innovative mindset, has steered the company towards systematic and automated management. He introduced an ERP system to optimize production processes and established a real-time online reporting mechanism. Beyond improvements in production management, he implemented E-systems for business development, enhancing the company's website with multi-language interfaces. Actively following the e-commerce trend, this strategic move allows potential international clients to discover the company on various online platforms, propelling the enterprise towards global recognition.

Following the onset of the pandemic in early 2020, corporate revenues plummeted instantly. With his father unable to return to Thailand in the short term due to pandemic-related travel restrictions, Chang Kai Ping found himself facing the challenge of steering the business out of the downturn. Proving the adage that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Chang not only weathered the challenges posed by the pandemic but also initiated the construction of a second factory outside Bangkok in Prachinburi Province in 2020 to meet growing customer demands. Currently, the total number of employees across both factories is nearing a thousand, and the overall annual revenue continues to grow, guiding the enterprise to new heights.

Despite the vibrant success in running the business, Chang Kai Ping remains grateful. He expresses thanks to his father and the experienced Taiwanese executives for their timely guidance and support. Looking ahead, in addition to continuing to lead the company toward new milestones, he aspires to follow in his father's footsteps, contributing to the local Taiwanese community in Thailand and giving back to society.
