The completion ceremony for the 2018 National Overseas Compatriot Student Club Elite Cadre Training Workshop  was held on June 1 and hosted by Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) Vice Minister Roy Yuan-rong Leu. He presented completion certificates to 90 overseas compatriot student club cadres on behalf of Minister Wu hsin-hsing and encouraged them to use what they learned in the Workshop for self-fulfillment and to raise their level of professional ability to provide service to more fellow students.
In his speech, Leu stated that, coming from other countries to study in Taiwan, overseas compatriot students face more difficulties than ordinary students because they have to adapt to living and studying in an unfamiliar environment. He said that the OCAC cares for overseas compatriot students through various channels with the aim of allowing everyone to study without worry in Taiwan. He joked that the OCAC is the nanny of overseas compatriot students, saying students are always welcome to contact the OCAC if they have a study or life related problem. He said that returning home or staying in Taiwan to work after graduation are both good choices.
Workshop participant group leader Lee Zhi said the two-day training program was intensive and practical benefitting the students greatly in terms of media operation, club marketing, financial management and interpersonal relationship skills etc. It is hoped that after returning to their schools, participants will use what they learned in the Workshop to take student club members up to a higher level. He thanked the OCAC for caring for overseas compatriot students in Taiwan and giving the feeling of the warmth of home.
