Camara Comercial Juvenil de Taiwan en Argentina holds a lecture on the Labor Standards Act in Argentina

The Camara Comercial Juvenil de Taiwan en Argentina held a lecture on Argentina’s Labor Standards Act on May 25. Well-known Argentinian lawyer and land agent Maria de las Mercedes Suasnavar was main speaker and also provided legal counseling on the rights and obligations of employers and labor in Argentina. The event was attended by more than 80 people, including Presidente Diego Lee of Camara Comercial de Taiwan en Argentina.
Mercedes has been a lawyer in Argentina for 35 years and a land agent for 20; she was formerly land agent for Banco Nacion and has won six legal honors in Argentina. The contents of the lecture on the Labor Standards Act were practical, Mercedes explaining that before an employee begins work, an agreement must be made with regard the work contents and work places and it must be registered in the AFIP system. Also, work insurance and life insurance contracts must be signed, employees required to undergo a labor inspection before entering the workplace and a salary account opened at a bank.
 
Mercedes said that if an employee is unable to complete the work they are tasked with a request can be made in writing. Before the trial period (three months) ends, with advance notification, an employee can be dismissed without compensation. After the trial period ends, the requirements for dismissing an employee are: with a reason,  legal settlement fee must be paid; without a reason, legal settlement fee and compensation must be paid
The Taiwanese overseas compatriots present asked question after question and interaction was lively. Presidenta Monica Lin of Camara Comercial Juvenil de Taiwan en Argentina said that starting a business and keeping a business going inevitably both involve recruiting employees. She hoped that the lecture provided attendees with useful information and said similar lectures will be held in future if the opportunity arises.
