The US House of Representatives has passed a record US$1.15 trillion defense budget for 2027, about 28% higher than for 2026. The bill includes funding to help Taiwan strengthen its self-defense capabilities, support for bilateral drone development and a plan to bring Taiwan into the 2028 RIMPAC naval exercise. The final bill could still change as the House works out differences with the Senate.
