Argentina, officially the Argentine Republic, is a federal republic in the southern portion of South America. Sharing the bulk of the Southern Cone with its neighbor Chile to the west, the country is also bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, Brazil to the northeast, Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Drake Passage to the south. With a mainland area of 2,780,400 km2 (1,073,500 sq mi), Argentina is the eighth-largest country in the world, the second largest in Latin America, and the largest Spanish-speaking one.
The Chinese ethnic population in Argentina is estimated to be 190,000, of which about 10,000 people in the area are Taiwanese immigrants. In order to make overseas compatriots get together to help each other, and be able to form close relationship among them, there are approximately 30 overseas compatriot associations of different attributes in the region. In addition, overseas compatriots in general take education affairs of the next generation particularly seriously. In the hope of promoting traditional Chinese characters and Taiwan’s diverse cultural learning, there are 6 overseas compatriot schools in the Argentina in close collaboration with the OCAC to pass down the important cultural heritage of mankind.
