FASCA-OC Experiences Hakka Culture with Food and Fun!
On April 20th, the Cultural Center of TECO in Los Angeles (Santa Anna) hosted a special "Lecture on Taiwanese Hakka Food and Culture," inviting FASCA students from Orange County and San Diego to learn about Hakka heritage. This exciting event wasn't just a lecture – it was a full cultural immersion! Hakka speakers led the way, explaining the fascinating connections between Hakka traditions, food, and their unique environment. The day got even tastier with live demonstrations of Hakka foods like mochi, salty glutinous rice balls, and the refreshing lei tea. Did you know there are over 4.5 million Hakka people in Taiwan? Their culture is a vibrant thread in the rich tapestry of Taiwanese life. This event connected second-generation Taiwanese Americans with their roots and fostered a deeper appreciation for Taiwan's multicultural heritage. Participants greatly enjoyed the event, praising both the flavorful and easy-to-prepare Hakka foods and the unique cultural insights. They even left with a travel dream: experiencing Hakka life firsthand in a traditional village on a future trip to Taiwan.

FASCA- Atlanta Showcases Impressive Performances and Taiwanese Foods
The FASCA Atlanta Chapter held a dazzling presentation on April 21st, showcasing the students' cultural talents and year-long learning. The event featured captivating performances that celebrated Taiwanese heritage. From singing nostalgic songs to performing vibrant folk dances and the energetic lion dance, the students' enthusiasm captivated the audience.  Adding to the festive atmosphere, attendees savored a delicious spread of Taiwanese delicacies. Familiar favorites like fried rice noodles, salty crispy chicken, and Taiwanese wheel cakes brought a taste of Taiwan to the celebration, transporting everyone back home. The Cultural Center of TECO in Atlanta extends its gratitude to the overseas community and parents whose unwavering support makes FASCA possible. The Center recognizes the outstanding performances by the FASCA students and their dedication to nurturing leadership, cultural awareness, and a service-oriented spirit in Taiwanese youth. By promoting Taiwanese culture, FASCA strengthens Taiwan's reputation and visibility on the international stage.

ITCCJC Holds Seminar on Investment and Residency Regulations
On February 24th, the Indonesia Taiwan Chambers of Commerce Junior Chapter (ITCCJC) hosted a seminar on "Latest Investment and Residency Regulations for Companies in Indonesia." Ms. Lisa Lee, a senior investment advisor, was invited to deliver a lecture to brief the Taiwanese community about the latest investment and immigration information. Other invited guests included Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta Expatriate Division Chief Shu-ling Lee, Secretary Maggie Liao, Economic Division Chief Frank F. C. Lu, Secretary Chris Chen, ITCC President Jason Wang, and Secretary General Eason Kuo.   ITCCJC President Suzanne Fu expressed her delight at the attendance of many members and friends. She also distributed the membership handbook for the 6th ITCCJC, a valuable resource that helps Taiwanese businessmen and newcomers in quickly adjusting to life in Indonesia. Chief Shu-ling Lee took the chance to showcase the latest OCAC events and services. She encouraged participants to join the "i Compatriot Card" Overseas Authorized Stores campaign or the 2024 Taiwan Prime Award Selection. For the latter event, there will be a live-streaming presentation on the 1st of March on the OCAC Facebook page. She also promoted the OCAC 2024 ESG Sustainable Management Program for Overseas Compatriot Entrepreneurs. In addition, Taiwanese-Indonesian children who wish to pursue further studies in Taiwan can apply for the Overseas Compatriot Student Scholarship. Division Chief Lu also encouraged Taiwanese investors to share any investment or business challenges encountered in Indonesia and voice the assistance they might need. Ms. Lisa Lee gave an overview of the prerequisites for establishing a foreign investment company in Indonesia, covering required documentation, capital requirements, and regulations regarding work permits and visas. Additionally, a practical session for case discussions was held. Jakarta Taiwan Entrepreneur Associate Director General Chia Sheng Chin and OCAC Senior Adviser Johnson Chang also attended and shared their experiences of interacting with Indonesian officials. Ms. Li also answered questions from attendees both present and online. Approximately 80 people attended the event, and members expressed great satisfaction, hoping that the ITCCJC can organize similar events for the benefit of its members.

YTMAT Organizes "Service Innovation Seminar" for Overseas Compatriot Youths
On January 20th, the Young Taiwanese Merchants Association of Toronto (YTMAT) held its first event of the year, the Entrepreneurial Journey 2: Service Innovation Seminar. Ethan Lin, the owner of WEWCA, was invited to deliver a keynote talk. He has extensive experience in helping clients develop new services using innovative tools. Previously, he worked at the Institute for Information Industry (III), lectured at several universities in Taiwan, and served as a strategic director and senior product manager at tech startups. Director Paul Lan from the Culture Centre of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Toronto also attended the event. Director Lan expressed his delight in seeing many young entrepreneurs attending the lecture. He encouraged the young audience to support President Ishi Wang's candidacy for this year's "International Youth Goodwill Ambassador" organized by the OCAC. He believes that by harnessing the business vitality, community connections, and cultural ties of Taiwanese-Canadian young entrepreneurs, we can foster further connections with mainstream Canadian society and elevate Taiwan's visibility on the global stage. He also encouraged young individuals to engage more actively in events organized by Taiwanese associations, aiming to infuse the local community with fresh energy and vitality. Additionally, he urged them to promote Taiwan during various upcoming cultural events in Toronto. The event also featured a video titled "Taiwan: Force for Good," produced by MOFA to promote Taiwan. According to Ishi Wang, President of YTMAT, many Taiwanese youths aspire to start their own businesses, and some have already achieved success in their entrepreneurial pursuits. YTMAT organizes events to provide young people with entrepreneurial knowledge, networks, and resources. In this lecture by WEWCA founder, participants learned from practical case studies on utilizing innovative technological methods and tools to improve appointment management services, providing young attendees with valuable entrepreneurship insights. Keynote speaker Ethan Lin, Owner of WEWCA, shared his company's appointment management service as an example to illustrate ways for analyzing user needs, designing corresponding service flows, and creating incentives that are relevant to users. He also explained how his company optimizes service flow design and cost control by stimulating and using service scenarios. The lecture maintained a very clear theme and was well-structured. All the participating young entrepreneurs found the discussion highly beneficial. A lunch gathering followed the lecture, offering participants the opportunity for face-to-face interaction with the speakers. Young entrepreneurs also seized the chance to network, exchanging business insights and exploring potential collaborations. Director Lan also discussed with young entrepreneurs from Brampton about future cooperation concerning the "i Compatriot Card" Overseas Authorized Stores. Overall, the event provided a platform for exchanging entrepreneurial experiences and attracted around 60 overseas youth attendees.

FASCA-Boston Visits Belmont Town to Showcase Taiwan's Rich Culture
The FASCA Boston Chapter recently embarked on a cultural journey to Belmont, a suburb of Boston, to partake in the annual multicultural Lunar New Year celebration organized by the local community. Setting up vibrant cultural booths in the heart of town, FASCA students infused the event with youthful energy and introduced attendees to the diverse tapestry of Taiwanese culture. The event attracted a steady flow of visitors from both Belmont residents and Greater Boston, alongside participants from the Boston Taiwan Film Festival and the Lexington Chinese School. Together, they contributed to the festive atmosphere. At FASCA's cultural booth, visitors get to know Taiwan's human geography, customs, and cuisine through engaging activities like activity boards, lucky wheel, and dice games. The allure of prizes such as Taiwanese aboriginal paper-carving headdresses, handmade folding books of Taiwan travel, and refreshing hand-cranked drinks captivated participants of all ages. This community outreach not only facilitated the introduction of Taiwan to international friends but also fostered mutual cooperation and friendship among FASCA trainees. Through active participation and collaborative efforts, they embraced the spirit of unity and experienced a sunny afternoon filled with hope.
