The KID Museum in Washington D.C. buzzed with excitement as it hosted a special event on May 5th in honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Partnering with Taiwan Fun and the Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors (FASCA DC), the museum showcased the unique tradition of “Wearing Wooden Clogs to Wake Up the Pangolin” as part of Taiwan's Double 5th Festival. This tradition, designed by Taiwan Fun, symbolizes the awakening of the pangolin to usher in a prosperous harvest. Children enthusiastically participated in a three-legged race, donning traditional wooden clogs while traversing a special pathway adorned with pangolin footprints.
Jackie Eyl, Chief Activity Director at the KID Museum, expressed her delight: “We were thrilled to see children experience this fun Taiwanese tradition. Events like this provide a fantastic way to introduce children to the rich tapestry of cultures around the world. We eagerly anticipate future partnerships with Taiwanese organizations.”
