National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts stages late painter Lin Yu-shan’s online exhibition

Staged by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA), an exhibition online showcasing late painter Lin Yu-shan’s (林玉山) art pieces is taking place from Jan. 29 through Dec. 31.

The exhibited artworks created from 1930 to 2000 were selected from the sketches donated by Lin’s family in 2018, demonstrating the artist’s abundant creative energy and unique interpretation of Taiwan’s scenery and culture. Among the selected art pieces, 284 sketches focus on the theme of Taiwan’s landscapes, including mountains, coasts, springs, streams, rivers, and waterfalls, presenting Lin’s sketching footprints from Bitou Cape (鼻頭角) in the north of Taiwan to Mount Banping (半屏山) in the south and outlying islands.

To explore the composition and conception process of Lin’s sketches, the exhibition offers an analysis of the artworks with dynamic imaging to present the details of the drawings. The online exhibition engages and captivates its audiences with an interactive experience, combined with Google Maps and the sounds of the island recorded by the Soundscape Association of Taiwan, allowing the audience to follow Lin Yu-shan’s sketching spots in Taiwan.
