On March 16th, the Taiwanese Association of America Greater Orlando (TAAGO) hosted a full-house screening of the renowned Taiwanese director Wei Te-Sheng's film "BIG" at Cinemark theater's largest auditorium. A total of 110 attendees, filling the auditorium to its maximum capacity, gathered to watch the story of six children bravely battling cancer alongside their families and healthcare providers, portrayed with vivid emotion and touching realism. Notable guests included Director General Charles Chou of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Miami, accompanied by OCAC Secretary Steve Huang and his family, adding significance to the event.

Following the screening, Director Wei shared insights from his past experiences interviewing children with cancer and doctors in pediatric oncology wards during field study. He emphasized that pediatric cancer wards are among the most vibrant places globally, as “every child desires to live, every parent wishes to save, and every healthcare worker is fully dedicated to serve.” Director Wei hopes that through this film, everyone in good health will realize how fortunate they are to be alive and spared from facing life’s uncertainties. He looks forward to inspiring everyone to love themselves and their families more, and to embrace life fully instead of fearing death.

The director also gives a small assignment to the parents present: to share with their children the story of the day they were born. He believes that every child enters this world with a unique story and hopes that they will live their lives with the same blessings and vibrancy, experiencing the full spectrum of life.

One audience wrote after the screening, “Highly recommended for families, 'BIG' is a touching film that skillfully portrays the struggles of cancer warriors through vibrant animation, balancing emotional depth with moments of laughter and sorrow. Director Wei's meticulous work is evident in every scene, offering inspiration and diverse perspectives to viewers. This Taiwanese gem is a heartwarming masterpiece that seamlessly blends tears of laughter and tears of emotion, leaving a lasting impact on audiences.”

As part of the 6th North America Taiwanese Film Tour Festival, this event in Orlando received generous support not only from TAAGO but also from prominent sponsors. Among them were OCAC Senior Adviser, Joe Wang (王成章, Cino International Inc), OCAC Adviser, Jack Kao (高健智, Amerasia Bank), OCAC Senior Adviser, Johnson Young (楊喬生), and Lana Young (楊琇雅), alongside contributions from various local businesses and individuals.
