In spite of recent heightened tensions, the coast guards of China and Taiwan are working together to search for persons missing at sea in two separate incidents off the Matsu and Kinmen islands. Six months after a deadly factory fire in southern Taiwan, the government aims to implement new safety regulations even as some remain skeptical of their effectiveness. And the embassy of the Marshall Islands in Taiwan is hosting an event to commemorate the victims of American nuclear testing in the Pacific during the Cold War. Plus:
- Taiwan's supreme court has overturned the conviction of an Indigenous man formerly imprisoned for hunting protected species.
- The high court in Sapporo, Japan has ruled the country's ban on same-sex marriages is unconstitutional.
- New agricultural technology developed in Taiwan can keep beef tomatoes fresh for a whole year.
