Lunar New Year's Art Exhibition
On February 18, the Rockville Chinese School (RCS) in Rockville, Maryland, hosted a joyous Lunar New Year celebration. The event was divided into a New Year's art exhibition by each class, and a series of exciting performances. The entire campus was filled with laughter and joy.
The celebration began with a spectacular traditional drum performance by high school students. Their synchronized and powerful drumming established a festive tone for the event. Following this, children from each class took turns on stage, bringing lovely singing and dancing performances in Mandarin. Their cheerful songs and dances, which conveyed New Year blessings to everyone, received much applause from the parents.
In addition to the performances, the New Year's art exhibition was another highlight of the event. The students thoughtfully prepared cultural crafts, paintings, and other works that showcased their creativity, talent, and blessings for the New Year. From paper-cutting, lanterns, and couplets to ink paintings, calligraphy, and creative writing, various artworks fully demonstrated the students' love for Chinese culture.
After the performances, the school prepared meals for teachers, students, parents, and guests. Everyone had a pleasant afternoon filled with joy and warmth.
