Campaigners against the death penalty in Taiwan are campaigning for two men who have been on death row for decades to be pardoned, saying their murder convictions were secured on dubious evidence and coerced confessions. Taiwan's military is in talks with the newly-formed national railway company on using trains to transport heavy equipment. And over 17,000 young people in Taiwan have now benefited from free counseling sessions under a mental health initiative set up by the government last year. Also:
- Despite a record run to the final qualifying round, Taiwan's top male tennis players missed out on a place at this year's Davis Cup, losing out to France in a best-of-five playoff in Taipei.
- Some 94,000 people turned out for an Ed Sheeran concert in Kaohsiung, setting a new local record.
- A Vietnamese woman in Taiwan has found relief from depression in the form of colorful and intricate jelly art, which she also teaches to others.
