To prepare students for the upcoming Lunar New Year cultural activities in various mainstream venues in the Greater DC area, the Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors DC Chapter (FASCA DC) has launched a series of student committee training sessions in January. The FASCA program aims to build connections between the second and third-generation overseas compatriot youth and Taiwan through various educational training courses. In order to achieve this goal, FASCA DC has been striving to coordinate activities for its students in a more systematic and creative manner, providing each student with the opportunity to participate in activity planning, coordination, and leadership development since an organizational change in 2021.

The new organizational structure includes building different student committees, each comprising a Project Leader, along with a varying number of Committee Representatives and Members. The size of each committee could vary depending on the need and the nature of the event. During these training sessions, the senior FASCA DC advisory not only planned arts and crafts for each exhibition booth but also actively developed more hands-on activities to ensure students can clearly deliver the message of Taiwan's unique Lunar New Year culture to the public at mainstream events. This year, new games such as "snatching the first incense", "tossing the wooden sticks", and "praying for blessings" are expected to be captivating highlights.

FASCA DC's activity coordinators expressed that this Lunar New Year celebration would be full of energy and laughter. They hope to introduce the unique aspects of Taiwan's Lunar New Year to a broader audience through these traditional activities. These events aim to promote communication among community members, sparking interest in multiculturalism. As FASCA members gear up for these activities, they are not only developing effective communication skills but also honing their ability to plan every detail of an event, becoming true cultural ambassadors in the process.

The enthusiasm and dedication of FASCA DC students are evident in their commitment to creating a vibrant and memorable Lunar New Year celebration that showcases Taiwan's rich cultural heritage. As the countdown to the festivities begins, anticipation is building for an event that promises to bring joy, cultural exchange, and a deeper understanding of Taiwan's Lunar New Year traditions to the heart of Washington D.C.
