Chengcheng Elementary School in Shuili, Taiwan
Ms. Li-Ying Liu is meeting with the school representatives

Recently, Ms. Li-Ying Liu, a Mandarin language teacher representing the Washington DC Taiwanese School (WDCTS), visited the Chengcheng Elementary School in Shuili, Taiwan.

Liu is the lead of the WDCTS virtual learning program that partners with the Millennial Global Youth (MGY) Foundation, and FASCA-DC Chapter. The goal of the program is to offer a free online platform for English learning and cultural experience exchanges to public schools like Chengcheng Elementary in Taiwan. The online program with Chengcheng Elementary has been launched since Fall 2023, and the focus of Liu's in-person visit provided an opportunity to discuss the past semester's online English learning and cultural experience exchanges between both ends, as both parties are excited to announce the kick-off of the 2nd semester of this weekly online learning in Spring 2024.

Liu stated that through advanced digital technology, students from both countries could interact without space and time constraints, making language learning much more fun and diverse. The Principal of Chengcheng said that this kind of cross-national educational partnership not only enriches language learning but also promotes cross-cultural exchanges, allowing students to grow in a global perspective.

The meeting was filled with laughter and warmth as the teachers shared their teaching experiences and looked forward to the prospects of future partnership together. The visit further consolidated the friendship between the two schools and laid a stronger foundation for cooperation in 2024.
