Pilots from EVA Air, Taiwan's second-largest airline, have announced they will go on strike over the Lunar New Year holiday period if their demands for better pay and stricter safety protocols are not met. The first batch of conscripts since Taiwan increased the period of mandatory military service to one full year is reporting for duty. And leading members of the U.S. Congressional Taiwan Caucus are in Taiwan to express support following the country's recent national elections, meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen and President-elect Lai Ching-te.
