National Central Library holds an exhibition on Arabic language
Celebrating the UN Arabic Language Day, the National Central Library (NCL) collaborated with the Saudi Arabian Trade Office in Taiwan to organize an exhibition on the Arabic language, highlighting its beauty through poetry and art. Running from Dec. 19 to 31, the exhibition also displays Arabic historical documents, clothing, artifacts, and contemporary publications, besides introducing Arabic literature and important Arabic poets.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Dec. 18. It was honored by the presence of Director-General Tseng Shu-hsien (曾淑賢) of NCL, representative Adel F. Althaidi of the Saudi Arabian Trade Office, Director Nabeel Al-Tel of the Jordanian Commercial Office, Director Mohammed Muslem Said Al of the Commercial Office of the Sultanate of Oman-Taiwan, and Director-General Jack Kuei (桂業勤) of the Department of Cultural Exchange of the Ministry of Culture.
The Arabic language was adopted as a United Nations official working language on Dec. 18, 1973. To promote the beautiful language, the World Arabic Language Day is celebrated every year on Dec. 18 since 2012.
