President Sung Hsun of the Overseas Chinese Association Youth In Korea, along with a team of eleven colleagues, including Secretary General Ying-Hao Liu, Vice Presidents Ho Shao Jung and Wang Tae Bin, and Director Chi-Bin Wang, visited the Taipei Mission in Korea on Jan. 15th. Representative Kuang-Chung Liang hosted the delegation, along with Deputy Director Tu Huiyin of the Overseas Community Affairs Division.
Liang first commended the OCAY for its dedication under the leadership of Sung Hsun and its executive team. In recent years, the OCAY has actively organized activities and fostered unity among the overseas Taiwanes youths. In addition to engaging in charity events, the OCAY also steadily grew its intiatives. Liang hoped that more young Taiwanese in Korea would participate in community activities, so that the OCAY can flourish and foster the long-term development of the Korean Taiwanese community.
Liang also encouraged the OCAY to strengthen and leverage the networks it has established within the Korean society. It is important to invite members of Korea's mainstream society to the Association's events, so that the OCAY can expand its influence and also advance public diplomacy. These efforts help enhance Taiwan's visibility and create more goodwill toward Taiwan on the international stage.
During the meeting, Sung Hsun briefed Representative Liang about the OCAY' plans for the new year. The plans include collaborating with the Chinese Resident's Association Seoul Korea on Youth Day to organize a volunteer medical service, and providing free healthcare to seniors and marginal groups. There are also plans to hold the Double Tenth National Day celebration and to visit South Korean parliament members. Sung emphasized that the OCAY will continue to contribute its expertise, steadily advance its initiatives, and further strengthen the Taiwanese community in Korea.
Attending members shared their thoughts in turns. Deputy Director Tu also took the opportunity to promote various youth training and support programs, encouraging OCAY members to make full use of the OCAC platform to both engage with overseas Taiwanese youths worldwide and apply their learnings to the overseas Taiwanese community in Korea. In closing, the attending members expressed their gratitude to Representative Liang for his hospitality. They also expressed hope for more future opportunities to discuss issues concerning overseas Taiwanese youths and to contribute collectively to the Taiwanese community in Korea.
