The FASCA Boston Chapter hosted a vibrant year-end celebration at The Cultural Center of TECO on December 21, centered around the theme of Taiwanese dining traditions. Nearly 60 students and parents attended, creating a wonderful opportunity for families to showcase their culinary talents and share special dishes. This allowed students to immerse themselves in Taiwan's rich food culture and experience its festive banquet customs firsthand.
A major highlight of the evening was the meticulously crafted twelve-course banquet, each dish infused with symbolic New Year flavors. Students learned about the origins of Taiwan's table culture and the meanings behind the names of each dish. To make the evening even more engaging, participants enjoyed fun, Taiwanese-themed riddle games. The event was made possible with the collaboration of two FASCA teachers, Lu Zongxi and Lin Xiaolan, who worked closely with the students' parents to ensure its success.
In Taiwan, the "table" symbolizes family unity, and FASCA has always embodied that spirit, like a big family. Beyond enjoying the delicious food, students were able to connect, reminisce about the year's shared experiences, and strengthen their sense of community. Parents, too, had the chance to appreciate one another's cooking skills, and together, they relished the warmth and joy of Taiwan’s lively dining traditions.
