The Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Europe Junior Chapter (ETCCJC) held the fourteenth term second board meeting on the 9th of November at the Marmara Taksim Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey.
The opening ceremony was attended by Representative Chih-Yang Huang of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Mission in Ankara, ETCC President Den Shyan Chuang, Honorary President Kuo-Tai Tsai of the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (WTCC), ETCC Honorary Presidents Luis Chang, Yu-Ying Hedlund, and Jean-Charles Lam, OCAC Council Member Isabelle Lam, ETCC Advisor Huy Le, and WTCCJC Secretary-General Carlos Yeh.
David Chang, the 14th President of the ETCCJC, stated that this conference was attended by over 30 members from nine European countries, including representatives from the newly established Swiss Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce Junior Chapter, founded this June. He highlighted that Turkey is a unique country. A one-day tour of Istanbul was arranged on October 10 for the young entrepreneurs to not only engage in business exchange but also experience Turkish culture. The third board meeting for the fourteenth term ETCCJC is scheduled to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from May 16 to 18, 2025.
Representative Chih-Yang Huang opened his remarks with the phrase, "A cup of Turkish coffee holds 40 years of friendship." He described Turkey as a bridge between Europe and Asia, filled with business potential. Alluding to the fact that visitors can apply for a free entry visa through Turkey's official online system, Huang encouraged Europe-based entrepreneurs to strengthen their ties with Turkey.
On October 9, an in-person seminar was held, featuring Francis Wan, a board member of the ETCCJC. Wen gave an overview of the fintech evoluation and shared insights on key fintech developments in the UK, Taiwan, and major European countries, such as mobile payments, online banking, unicorn companies, and the impact of AI on the financial sector.
This year, ETCCJC also launched a series of seminars titled "ETCCJC ELITE STAR." The program covers four key themes: career planning for senior executives, experiences of Taiwanese entrepreneurs living in Europe, the challenges and rewards of freelancing, and an exploration of workplace mental and physical well-being. This initiative aims to support those Taiwanese who are interested in building careers, investment, or entrepreneurial ventures in Europe.
