The FASCA Boston Chapter held an intensive training program from June 27 to 28 at the Boston Culture Center, gathering over 20 new and returning members. The program invited local youth leaders, including a city councillor and a community liaison from the mayor's office, to share how to leverage their Taiwanese-American identity and passion for public service to become effective community leaders.
The training featured diverse hands-on activities: instructors led team-building exercises, and a dragon boat team member illustrated teamwork through a row-machine competition. Members also crafted story lightboxes to share Taiwanese memories and prepared popular purple rice rolls to explore Taiwan's unique breakfast culture. Additionally, members practiced chapter dances and traditional flag-waving techniques, delivering a vibrant closing performance that earned enthusiastic applause from parents.
Through the two-day program, members achieved the four core goals of "Leadership, Service, Culture, and Heritage" while building strong friendships. The Culture Center Director and an Overseas Community Affairs Council member presented completion certificates, encouraging the youth to actively serve their community as goodwill ambassadors for Taiwanese culture.
