The FASCA Toronto Chapter held its new member training from June 27 to 28, with 11 mentors guiding 57 new trainees. Through cultural immersion, teamwork, and leadership development, the program cultivated next-generation youth leaders equipped with cultural identity and a global perspective.
The opening ceremony was attended by TECO officials, culture center directors, local school board representatives, and overseas community leaders. Speakers encouraged trainees, emphasizing that leadership is built through service, and inspired them to share Taiwanese culture with Canada's multicultural society while serving as a vital bridge between the two nations.
The comprehensive curriculum featured an opening keynote by a tech lawyer discussing Taiwan's strengths and democratic development, encouraging members to leverage their dual cultural heritage. The program also included team-building activities, cyanotype flag creation, and chapter dance rehearsals. Notably, the training collaborated for the first time with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, offering a guided virtual tour to deepen civic education. Additionally, a parent orientation attracted over 50 parents to learn about FASCA's vision and annual plan.
During the closing ceremony, students demonstrated their learning outcomes, recited the FASCA oath led by the chapter president, and received certificates of completion, officially joining the FASCA family to embrace their mission of cultural heritage and community service.
