The FASCA Brisbane Chapter launched its 2026 local empowerment workshop on January 31 at the Queensland Taiwan Centre. The inaugural session, a "Traditional Taiwanese Festival Drumming Experience," was designed by advisory mentors to immerse members in the vibrant heritage of Taiwanese festive celebrations.
The workshop commenced with a review of the FASCA theme Dance and the National Anthem of the Republic of China (Taiwan), followed by an educational segment on the cultural origins of lunar drumming. Through hands-on training, members mastered foundational techniques and collaborated in groups to synchronize rhythms with physical movements, deepening their cultural identity. During a reflection session emceed by student committee member Tony, participants emphasized how the challenge of reading music and mastering beats underscored the vital importance of teamwork.
Concluding the event, mentors outlined the 2026 roadmap and engaged members with a Lunar New Year cultural trivia game. The chapter also announced a follow-up Cultural Visit on February 28, encouraging members to continue exploring local Spring Festival festivities.
