The UK Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce-Junior Chapter (UKTCC-JC) continues to support Taiwanese talents in the UK in broadening their global outreach. On August 1, UKTCC-JC hosted the "Future Urban Air Mobility and Low-Altitude Economy" Forum, featuring KT Lin, international entrepreneur and co-founder of Bellwether Industries and BAMS Tech, as the keynote speaker. Lin shared insights into the latest developments and outlook for two exciting technologies—eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft) and AI-powered airspace management. The event brought together over 30 UK-based Taiwanese professionals to explore global smart city trends and emerging opportunities in AI and aerospace innovation.
In his keynote speech, KT Lin talked about the future of urban air mobility, offering an in-depth analysis of how traditional ground transportation is struggling to meet the needs of modern cities amid rapid urbanization and worsening congestion. With the fast-rising low-altitude economy, Bellwether believes that eVTOL technology will emerge globally as the next trillion-dollar market.
The BAMS Tech team then presented applications of the "AI Smart Airspace Management and Navigation System," demonstrating how AI enables real-time obstacle avoidance, mission allocation, and airspace data visualization. This solution tackles the future challenge of managing millions of drones and eVTOLs sharing the same airspace. KT Lin stressed that as the number of aerial vehicles grows exponentially, building an AI-powered airspace management system—essentially a "Google Maps for the skies"—will be the key to realizing the low-altitude economy.
KT Lin also shared his entrepreneurial journey abroad and introduced The Ninety, a global community of young entrepreneurs he founded. The community has hosted several startup talks in London on topics including AI, business innovation, and smart cities, with plans to expand to other international cities. Its goal is to create a global exchange platform for Taiwanese youth.
Director Di-Yu Yeh of the Overseas Community Affairs Division at the Taipei Representative Office in the UK also attended the event to show support. He commended the ability of Taiwanese youth in the UK to connect knowledge and talent networks. He also promoted OCAC's "i Compatriot Card" and encouraged compatriots to participate in the upcoming National Day celebration events.
