On August 16, the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in British Columbia (TCCBC), under the leadership of President Tina Wong and her team, organized a summer picnic gathering at the lavender fields. The event was attended by TECO-Vancouver Director-General Li-Hsin Liu and her spouse, Expatriate Division Chief Belinda Chen, Secretary Ching-Yu Huang, Parliament Member Wilson Miao, Legislative Assembly Member Henry Yao, TCCBC Founding President Tai Yao, Metro Vancouver Overseas Taiwanese Society (MVOTS) Co-chairs, Ming-Chu Hsieh and Sherry Huang, Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce of North America (TCCNA) Vice President Tony Hsu, Global Federation of Chinese Business Women (GFCBW) of Vancouver Chapter's Founding President Ronnie Chen and current President Winnie Tsao, along with several honorary community leaders and over 250 expatriates from the Greater Vancouver area.
President Linus Kuo of the Taiwan Junior Chamber of Commerce in BC (TJCCBC) served as the emcee. This was the first major event organized by the newly appointed TCCBC President Tina Wong. She expressed her special thanks to her team, TCCBC members, and sponsors for their generous support, which together created a successful event. Director-General Li-Hsin Liu also expressed gratitude to the TCCBC for supporting the government's diplomatic efforts. TECO will continue collaborating with the TCCBC, with hopes of further increasing Taiwan's visibility in Canada.
The event officially started amidst the beautiful violin and cello melodies. The venue featured stalls offering Taiwanese snacks and specialty coffee, along with activities like face painting, balloon twisting, and mini-golf. There were also photo booths and professional photographers available for pictures. TECO-Vancouver set up a booth to promote Taiwan's tourism and the Taiwan Employment Golden Card. There were also promotional materials by the OCAC on the i-Compatriot Card application and on the National Day activity, which invites expatriates to return to Taiwan for the celebration. The garden party concluded successfully with live performances by the children.
